R. L. Burnside (1926–2005) was an American blues guitarist and singer from Mississippi, known for his raw, hypnotic style of hill country blues. His music, built on repetitive grooves and sparse arrangements, influenced generations of blues and rock musicians. He is noted for albums such as A Ass Pocket of Whiskey.
