Pavel Samlík (b. 1988) is a painter from Ostrava working in oil on canvas, with landscapes and still lifes at the centre of his practice. He studied under Daniel Balabán at the Ostrava University Faculty of Arts and spent part of his studies in France. Rooted in the tradition of old-master landscape painting, he pushes it toward something more interior - objects in his canvases seem to vibrate, as if lit from within. In 2023 he took part in the Venice Biennale.
