Pavel Černý (born 9 October 1970, Prague) is a Czech organist, organologist and teacher, and one of the most prominent figures on the Czech organ scene. He studied at the Prague Conservatory under Prof. Jan Hora and at the Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) under Jaroslav Tůma; his career was launched by first prizes at competitions in Opava (1990), Ljubljana (1992) and the Prague Spring (1994). He teaches organ and improvisation at HAMU Prague and JAMU Brno, and as an organologist sits on expert commissions for organ restoration and construction - including the new organ at St. Vitus Cathedral. As a soloist he has performed on three continents, released CDs praised by international critics, and created radio series devoted to organ music.
