About

Otto Hejnic (born 1975) is a Prague-based drummer, composer and photographer widely regarded as one of the most sought-after jazz drummers in the Czech Republic. He graduated from the Prague State Conservatory under Professor Veselý, received a Berklee College of Music scholarship at 22, and spent several years playing in the USA. As a leader he has released more than eight albums; as a sideman he appears on nearly forty more, spanning jazz, rock and Latin music. Since 2009 he has led his own trio with pianist Ondrej Krajňák and bassist Josef Fečo, and since 2022 the international project Otto Hejnic Organism with New York Hammond organist Brian Charette.

    In January 2024, Hejnic performed with the Organism project at New York's Bohemia Hall, where the trio presented compositions that later appeared on the album "Forms Of Happiness".

    In 2024, Hejnic toured with the Organism project through Czech jazz clubs, including the Prague venues U Malého Glenna, Reduta, U Staré paní, and Jazz Dock.
