Nirvana was an American rock band from Aberdeen, Washington, active from 1987 to 1994. Led by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, the band became a defining act of the grunge movement. Their 1991 album Nevermind and its lead single Smells Like Teen Spirit brought alternative rock into the mainstream.
