Matmos + Sorbitol Drops
Experimental electronic duo Matmos returns to Prague after eighteen years. A concert with support from Sorbitol Drops at ARCHA+.
Matmos is an experimental electronic duo formed in San Francisco and now based in Baltimore, consisting of M. C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel. They are known for building music from radically unconventional source material - surgical recordings, crayfish nerve signals, washing machines - and shaping it into surprisingly accessible electronic compositions. The duo collaborated with Björk on Vespertine (2001) and Medúlla (2004), and over three decades has released more than twelve studio albums on Matador and Thrill Jockey.
M. C. Schmidt released the album Cloud Machines in collaboration with John Berndt (Thrill Jockey, June 12, 2026).
Matmos performed at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona (June 3-7, 2026).
Matmos released the live album Great Geometry (live in Australia) in December 2025.
Matmos released the album Metallic Life Review (Thrill Jockey, June 20, 2025), composed exclusively of sounds from metal objects.
The album Metallic Life Review includes a dedication to David Lynch and the late collaborator Susan Alcorn, who died during the final production.
