Marie Smolka is a Czech soprano born in Ostrava, now based between Innsbruck and Berlin. Since the 2023/24 season she has been an ensemble member of the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, where she has sung roles such as the Contessa (The Marriage of Figaro), Mimì (La Bohème) and the title role in Simplicius Simplicissimus. She previously sang at Theater Bremen and appeared as a guest at houses including the Staatsoper Berlin and Oper Frankfurt; Opernwelt magazine named her Young Artist of the Year in 2022 and listed her among the most important singers of 2025.
In 2026, she makes her debut at the Vienna Musikverein with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Petr Popelka.
In the 2025/26 season, she makes her debut at the Opéra de Lille in Philip Glass's opera Les Enfants Terribles and sings for the first time in Vienna with the Wiener Symphoniker under the baton of Petr Popelka.
In the 2024/25 season, she made her debut as the Countess at the Komische Oper Berlin (directed by Kiril Serebrennikov) and at the Hamburg State Opera in Neumeier's ballet evening Epilog.
For her performances in the 2024/25 season, Opernwelt ranked her among the most significant singers of 2025.
In March 2025, she made her debut in Innsbruck as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin.
