Marcel Bárta (born 1974 in Mariánské Lázně) is a Czech saxophonist, clarinettist, composer and self-taught visual artist who has become a central figure in Czech jazz and improvised music. He studied clarinet at the Pilsen Conservatory, taught himself jazz, and joined Milan Svoboda's Contraband in 1996. He founded the cult sextet Vertigo, the electro-jazz quintet MUFF and the chamber duo DoMa Ensemble, and has contributed as composer and arranger to dozens of recordings on the Animal Music label. Both Vertigo and his solo work have received multiple Anděl Awards in the jazz category.
