Liv Ullmann (born 16 December 1938 in Tokyo) is a Norwegian actress and filmmaker, best known for her decade-spanning collaboration with Ingmar Bergman across ten films, including Persona (1966), Cries and Whispers (1972) and Autumn Sonata (1978). She received two Oscar nominations - for The Emigrants (1971) and Face to Face (1976) - and an honorary Academy Award in 2022. Beyond acting, she directed several films including Faithless (2000), written by Bergman, and has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1980.
