Lee Ranaldo is an American guitarist, composer, and poet, best known as a co-founder and member of the New York noise rock band Sonic Youth, active from 1981 to 2011. His playing is marked by experimental guitar techniques, alternative tunings, and dense sonic textures. Alongside his work with Sonic Youth, he has pursued a solo career and numerous avant-garde collaborations.
