Kenny Clarke (1914–1985) was an American jazz drummer and a founding figure of the bebop revolution of the 1940s. He co-founded the Modern Jazz Quartet and helped shape both cool jazz and hard bop. He spent much of his later career in Paris, becoming a central figure of the European jazz scene.
