Karel Purkyně (1834–1868) was a Czech painter and son of the scientist Jan Evangelista Purkyně. He is best known for his portraits and still lifes, and was among the first to elevate the still-life genre in 19th-century Czech painting. His works are notable for their impasto technique and vivid colouring.
