Karel Havlíček Borovský (1821–1856) was a Czech poet, satirist, journalist and politician, one of the central figures of the Czech National Revival. He was known for his sharp political satire (Tyrolské elegie, Král Lávra) and fearless journalism. Austrian authorities exiled him to Brixen, where he spent four years in internment.
