About

Jiří Vodička (born 1988 in Havířov) is one of the leading Czech violinists of his generation, serving as concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic since 2015. As a soloist he appears with major Czech and international orchestras and performs at festivals including Prague Spring and Janáček's May. Alongside his orchestral role he pursues chamber music, baroque projects with the ensemble Barocco sempre giovane, and teaches at the Prague Conservatory and the University of Ostrava.

    Vodička became the artistic guarantor of Cycle E (Talent of Young People) of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava for the 2025/2026 season.

    In March 2025, Vodička performed as a soloist with the Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Semyon Bychkov - he played Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto and minor.

  • 2024-11

    The double album Dvořák: Complete Works for Violin and Piano (Supraphon, 2024) received the Editor's Choice award in Gramophone magazine and Choc de Classica from the French magazine Classica.

  • 2024-08

    Supraphon released a double album of complete works by Antonín Dvořák for violin and piano performed by Vodička and pianist David Mareček.

  • 2023-10

    Vodička performed with the ensemble Barocco sempre giovane at the Saint Wenceslas Music Festival in Ostrava - the sold-out Church of Saint Wenceslas welcomed a program of Italian Baroque (Vivaldi, Telemann, Geminiani).
