Jiří Petrbok

About

Jiří Petrbok (b. 1962, Kladno) is a Czech painter whose work since the 1990s centres on figurative painting with a strongly autobiographical character. He studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts under Radomír Kolář and Jiří Sopko, then spent nearly three decades there heading the drawing studio. His canvases are populated by distorted, elongated figures caught in absurd, irony-laden situations. His work is held in the National Gallery Prague and other public collections.
