Jára Cimrman is a fictional Czech genius, inventor and playwright created in 1966 by Zdeněk Svěrák and Jiří Šebánek. He is the central figure of Divadlo Járy Cimrmana in Prague, whose plays blend absurd humour with parody of Czech history and science.
