About

Jaroslav Koléšek (born 1974 in Šternberk) is a Czech sculptor and teacher based in Valašské Meziříčí. His work sits on the boundary between sculpture and object, drawing on contrasts between organic form and industrial morphology. He uses concrete, sandstone and glass, and his pieces are held by the Olomouc Museum of Art and the Ostrava Gallery of Fine Art. Since 2011 he has headed the sculpture department at the University of Ostrava's Faculty of Arts; he is a laureate of the Václav Chad Prize (2003) and the Rudolf Schlattauer Prize (2010).
