Jaroslav Kaska

About

Jaroslav Kaska (born 1925) was a machinist from České Budějovice and a member of the Czechoslovak National Social Party who, after the communist takeover in February 1948, joined the resistance group Lípa and began organising illegal border crossings. Together with his friend Jan Mašek he became one of the most active courier-agents on the Šumava border - the StB ranked them alongside Josef Hasil as so-called "Kings of Šumava" in 1952. Arrested in May 1952, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1954.
