Jan Spálený is a Czech singer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist, one of the founding figures of Czech blues. In his youth he played violin, trombone, tuba and baritone saxophone, moving through dixieland, rock'n'roll and rhythm & blues. Together with his brother Petr he co-founded the bands Hipp's and Apollobeat, pioneers of the Czech rock scene in the 1960s.
