Isaiah Collier (born 1998) is a Chicago-born saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist working across jazz, spiritual music, and the avant-garde. Raised on the city's South Side, he began playing saxophone at eleven and trained at the Jazz Institute of Chicago and the Chicago High School for the Performing Arts. Through six albums with his band The Chosen Few - from the 2018 debut to the pair of 2024 releases The Almighty and The World Is On Fire - he built a reputation as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz. The New York Times placed The Almighty among the ten best jazz albums of 2024, and the Chicago Tribune named him Jazz Artist of the Year.
In April 2025, Collier appeared on the cover of DownBeat magazine with a profile titled 'The Zeitgeist of Isaiah Collier'.
In February 2025, NPR included Collier's thirteen-part suite The Story of 400 Years in the Jazz Night in America program.
On January 21, 2025, the world premiere broadcast of the suite The Story of 400 Years took place on the Bandcamp Live platform produced by Chicago Black Artists Union.
Chicago Tribune named Collier jazz artist of the year 2024, and New York Times included the album The Almighty among the ten best jazz recordings of the year.
In October 2024, Collier released the album The World Is On Fire (Division 81 Records), the final recording with the quartet The Chosen Few, closing an eight-year chapter of the group.
