Gaahls Wyrd is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen, founded in 2015 by vocalist Gaahl (Kristian Espedal), formerly the frontman of Gorgoroth and God Seed. The band builds on the raw, ritualistic aesthetic of the Norwegian black metal scene while pushing into more poetic and atmospheric territory. Their work, including the 2025 album Braiding the Stories, has earned them Norway's Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy). They perform both as headliners and as a striking addition to major metal festival bills.
The band released their second studio album Braiding the Stories on the Season of Mist label.
Gaahls Wyrd performed at the Prague Křižíkov pavilion at the Prague Death Mass V festival.
The band was announced as one of the performers at the Mystic Festival in Polish Gdańsk.
The organizers of the Bergen festival Beyond the Gates 2026 confirmed the participation of Gaahls Wyrd alongside Emperor, Alcest and Arcturus.
