Federico García Lorca was a Spanish poet and playwright, one of the most important figures of 20th-century Spanish literature. He is best known for his tragedies Blood Wedding, The House of Bernarda Alba, and Yerma, which explore the lives of women in Andalusian society. He was killed at the outset of the Spanish Civil War in 1936.
