Edward Albee (1928–2016) was an American playwright whose work profoundly shaped 20th-century theatre. He is best known for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1962) and won the Pulitzer Prize three times. His debut The Zoo Story (1958) explores alienation and the isolation of modern man.
