About

Drietomanka is a Slovak brass band from the village of Drietoma near Trenčín, with roots going back to 1866 - making it one of the oldest wind orchestras in Slovakia. Its sixteen musicians, many of them conservatory graduates or members of professional military orchestras, perform in traditional folk costumes of the Trenčín region. The repertoire spans Slovak folk songs in the band's own arrangements, Moravian and Czech melodies, and dance pieces from international musicals. The ensemble won the mayor's prize for best foreign orchestra at the Zlatá křídlovka competition in Hodonín and has organised the Drietoma Brass Band Festival every year since 1999.
