Divadelní spolek Kašpar

About

Divadelní spolek Kašpar is an independent Prague theatre company founded in 1990, shortly after the Velvet Revolution, originally under the name Kašpar je mrtvý (after a poem by Hans Arp). Its founding members included Jakub Špalek, Jan Hřebejk and Michal Dočekal; today Špalek leads the ensemble of around forty actors and five directors. The company performs at two home stages in central Prague - Divadlo v Celetné and the Klubovna on Jindřišská - and since 2001 has taken productions outdoors each summer to castles, manor houses and farmyards across Bohemia. In over 35 years it has staged more than 135 premieres and gives around 400 performances a year.
