Dire Straits is a British rock band formed in London in 1977, led by guitarist and vocalist Mark Knopfler, whose fingerpicking guitar style became their trademark sound. Known for hits such as "Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing" and "Romeo and Juliet", their 1985 album Brothers in Arms is one of the best-selling albums of all time.
