Chris Imler is a Berlin-based drummer, singer and composer who moved to the then-divided city from Augsburg in the early 1980s. He first came to wider attention in the late 1990s as the drummer of cult Berlin band Golden Showers, and has since collaborated with artists including Peaches, Jens Friebe and Oum Shatt. He launched his solo career only in his fifties, building a sound that sits between post-punk, electronics and Krautrock, with lyrics that oscillate between Dadaism and sharp social commentary.
Chris Imler will perform at the Berlin festival Pop-Kultur 2026 (August 28, Frannz Club / Kulturbrauerei).
Imler launched a new series of European concerts - in March 2026 he performed in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Berlin.
On February 28, 2025, he released his fifth solo album The Internet Will Break My Heart on the labels Fun In The Church and Moli Del Tro.
The album The Internet Will Break My Heart received an award from The Guardian for best experimental album of the month and a place in their Top 10 experimental albums of 2025.
From March to June 2025, he conducted an extensive tour through Germany, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Austria.
