Banned from Utopia is an American band made up of former members of Frank Zappa's touring ensembles. Founded in the summer of 1994 for a tribute concert at a German jazz festival - six months after Zappa's death - the group is anchored by Ray White (guitar/vocals, Zappa band 1976-1984), Robert Martin (keys/brass/vocals, 1981-1988) and Scott Thunes (bass, 1981-1988). Of all active Zappa tribute projects, BFU fields the highest number of actual Zappa alumni on stage.
In September 2025, the band announced the postponement of the planned European tour 'We're Only In It For The Euros' and moved all dates to autumn 2026.
Swedish promoter Progressive Circus confirmed the alternative dates: October 15, 2026 Copenhagen, October 16 Gothenburg, and October 18 Stockholm.
The current European tour 2026 includes stops in Prague (Palác Akropolis), Paris, Rijkevorsel, Colmar, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and Stockholm.
In summer 2024, the band conducted a North American tour 'We Love Zappa' together with Paul Green Rock Academy, with which it first met at the Zappanale festival in Germany.
