About

Apocalyptica are a Finnish cello-metal band formed in 1993 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. They broke through with their debut Plays Metallica by Four Cellos (1996), a set of Metallica covers played entirely on cellos, and went on to develop a body of original work incorporating drums and guest vocalists such as Corey Taylor and Till Lindemann. Now a trio - Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen and Perttu Kivilaakso - they have released ten studio albums and sold over six million records worldwide.
