Aleš Růžička

About

Aleš Růžička (born 1977 in Tábor) is a Czech painter who studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts under František Hodonský, Antonín Střížek and Michael Rittstein. His gestural, thickly layered painting draws on nature and still life - flowers above all, which he treats as a mirror of human emotion and the passage of time. He works in sustained series, including cycles devoted to parks and gardens, and the "Stoly" (Tables) series recording his father's makeshift family altar.
