Alena Kastnerová is a Czech writer and screenwriter who came to writing by an unusual route - she trained as a nurse, then tried acting before finding her voice on the page. Her debut, O líné babičce (2011, Mladá fronta), quickly caught the attention of theatre directors and was staged at several venues, including Divadlo v Dlouhé in Prague. She has also written for TV series and works as a freelance copywriter.
