Abdulrazak Gurnah is a Tanzanian-British novelist born in 1948 on the island of Zanzibar. His fiction explores themes of exile, colonialism, and identity, drawing on the East African experience. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2021. His novel Paradise (1994) is among his best-known works.
