It's No Longer Cool to Be a Nobleman
An original theatrical production exploring the history of Czech nobility and the reasons for its decline. This author-driven play at Hrubá Skála Castle runs for 60 minutes.
Hrubá Skála Castle stands on sandstone rocks up to 60 m high in the Hruboskalsko nature reserve in the Bohemian Paradise, about 6 km south-east of Turnov. The original castle of Skála is first documented in 1353 as a possession of Hynek of Waldstein; the Smiřice family rebuilt it as a Renaissance château in the 16th century, and it received its current neo-Gothic form in 1859. Today it serves as a hotel and congress centre; the courtyard and the castle's lookout tower are open to the public. The castle is also known as a filming location for the fairy-tale film Prince Bajaja.
