Sand Sculptures Lednice

Lednice

About the venue

Sochy z písku (also known as Písečný svět - Sand World) is a seasonal open-air exhibition of sand sculptures in the Štěp park near the main car park in Lednice, close to the château. Sculptor Michal Olšiak has organised it every year from April to the end of October, each time around a different theme. The sculptures, some several metres tall, are carved from prehistoric marine sand quarried in South Moravia - up to 2,000 tonnes per season. At the end of each season the works are demolished to make way for new ones the following spring.
