Smíchovská náplavka (Hořejší nábřeží) runs along the left bank of the Vltava between the Railway Bridge and Palacký Bridge. The embankment was built after 1903; before that the riverbank hosted popular river baths and a wooden theatre arena demolished in 1938. After revitalisation, the old storage vaults in the embankment wall now house cafés, workshops and community spaces, while the upper level gained a sports area and a children's playground. Food festivals, cultural events and the summer Výletní kino Smíchov outdoor cinema take place here throughout the year, all framed by views of Vyšehrad and the green Railway Bridge.
