Wartburg – Jubilee at the Lobzy Museum
The Lobzy Museum celebrates three Wartburg anniversaries: 70 years of the model 311, 60 years of the type 353, and 35 years since the end of W 1.3 production.
This private retro museum in the Lobzy district of Plzeň occupies the Svobodnický dvůr, a historic farmstead dating to the 14th century and protected as a heritage site. The exhibition "Příběhy dvoutaktů" (Tales of Two-Strokes) displays Trabants, Wartburgs, Barkases and other East German vehicles - among them a border-guard cabriolet and the world's first car with a Duroplast body. Retro-furnished rooms evoke everyday life and camping in the DDR style of the 1960s-80s. The museum opened in 2015 and visits are guided tours only, at fixed times.
