Paintings from Vysočina
Summer exhibition of works by painter and graphic artist Petr Špáček at the Skuteč Regional Museum. Opening reception on June 2 at 5 p.m.
Regionální muzeum Skuteč occupies the house in Rybičkova Street where composer Vítězslav Novák died in 1949 - a permanent exhibition on the first floor is dedicated to his memory. The museum was founded in 1910 and has carried its current name since July 2022. Its centrepiece is the "Museum of Shoes and Stone": the shoemaking section traces the craft from guild records through the First Republic era to the Botasky trainers phenomenon, while the stonecutting section extends into an outdoor area with a recreated quarry. The museum has twice won an award in the national Gloria musaealis competition.
