Painter Jan Smital (1896–1955)
An exhibition celebrating the 130th anniversary of academic painter Jan Smital, a native of Loštice who specialized in landscapes and portraits. Discover his life and artistic legacy.
The museum occupies the house that illustrator Adolf Kašpar had built to his own design and used as a summer residence from 1911 to 1932. The permanent exhibition covers the full range of his work - illustrations for books by Božena Němcová, Alois Jirásek and others, watercolours, prints and an ethnographic collection. The highlight is his authentic attic studio with views over the surrounding countryside. The memorial is run by the Regional Museum in Šumperk and also hosts temporary exhibitions.
