Step by Step to Our (Famous) Ancestors
A genealogical exhibition at the Rokycany museum presents archival sources and research methods for tracing ancestors through ten life milestones and concrete examples of notable figures.
Regional museum in the centre of Rokycany, founded in 1905 at the initiative of Professor Bohuslav Horák, who died in Auschwitz in 1942. Since 1931 it has occupied the former girls' school building next to the church, and since 2015 it has been a branch of the West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen. Permanent exhibitions cover history, ethnography, the traditional iron-working of the Podbrdsko region, and palaeontology - the collection holds over 130,000 fossils from the Barrandian area, one of the largest such holdings in the Czech Republic.
