This public library in Ostrov has been open since 1945 and welcomes nearly 50,000 visitors a year. It occupies the historic Palác princů building, which took first place in two categories at the Stavby Karlovarského kraje 2012 competition. Beyond lending books, periodicals and audiovisual materials, the library serves as a community and educational centre, with particular attention to children, young people, seniors and people with disabilities. The Kronika města Ostrov (city chronicle) is also part of the organisation.
