Špindlerův Mlýn is a mountain town in the Giant Mountains, sitting on the Elbe River close to its source. Its history goes back to the 16th century, when miners and millers settled here - the town's name itself arose from a curious administrative error. Today it is one of the most visited ski resorts in the Czech Republic, with 26 km of downhill runs and 85 km of cross-country trails. In winter it hosts Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding World Cup events.
