Malostranské Square

Prague

About the venue

Malostranské náměstí (Lesser Town Square) has been the centre of Prague's Malá Strana since the district was founded in 1257. The Baroque church of St Nicholas and the Jesuit profession house split it into two distinct halves - the quieter upper part, anchored by the 1715 Holy Trinity Column, and the lower part with the former town hall. The square forms part of the Royal Route along which Bohemian coronation processions once passed, and is flanked by Liechtenstein, Šternberk and Smiřický palaces.
