Kostel sv. Jiří a Martina

Martínkovice

About the venue

The early Baroque church of St. George and Martin stands on a hillside above the Stěnava river, surrounded by a cemetery. Built between 1692 and 1698 to designs by Martin Allius, it is the only church in the Broumov group of village churches not attributed to the Dientzenhofer family. The Greek-cross plan is crowned by a dome with frescoes by Felix Anton Scheffler, and the interior also preserves a rare organ built by Franz Süssmuth in 1769-1771. Since 2022 the church has been listed as a national cultural monument.
