Musica Florea's Advent concert showcases Baroque Czech music on historic organs tuned in unequal temperament, featuring rare 17th-century works and compositions by Czech and European masters.
The monastery church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary on Piaristické náměstí is one of the oldest buildings in České Budějovice, founded alongside the city in 1265 at the initiative of King Přemysl Otakar II. Despite repeated fires and alterations in the 14th, 17th and 19th centuries, the three-nave Gothic structure has kept its early Gothic character. The interior is notable for 14th- and 15th-century frescoes - including a nearly ten-metre figure of St. Christopher - and a Baroque organ from the 17th century. The church passed through the hands of the Dominicans, Piarists and Redemptorists.
