Křivoklát is one of the oldest royal castles in Bohemia, with roots going back to the 12th century. It began as a Přemyslid hunting residence and later became a favourite retreat of Charles IV. Today it is a national cultural monument managed by the National Heritage Institute, open to visitors year-round with guided tours and seasonal events.
