Special Children's Tour at Frýdlant Castle
A special castle tour for children at Frýdlant that combines history with interactive rooms where kids can touch exhibits, sit on a throne, and paint a souvenir picture.
The state castle and château of Frýdlant rises on a basalt crag above the Smědá river in the Jizerské hory mountains, combining a medieval fortress from the mid-13th century with a Renaissance château rebuilt by the Redern family around 1600. The estate passed through the hands of the Biebersteins, Rederns, Albrecht von Wallenstein and the Clam-Gallas family. In 1801 the Clam-Gallas opened the castle collections to the public, making Frýdlant the first castle museum in Central Europe. The exposition covers the Knights' Hall, armoury, Chapel of St Anne, a picture gallery, and collections of furniture, porcelain and historical uniforms.
