Havlíček Gardens (Grébovka)

Prague

About the venue

Havlíčkovy sady, commonly known as Grébovka, is a sprawling English-style park in Prague's Vinohrady district covering 11 hectares, including a 1.7-hectare vineyard. It was laid out between 1871 and 1888 as the garden of industrialist Moritz Gröbe's villa, designed by architect Antonín Barvitius; in 1906 the city opened it to the public and renamed it after Karel Havlíček Borovský. The park features the neo-Renaissance Gröbe Villa, the Pavilion, the Vineyard Gazebo with a wine bar, and the artificial stalactite cave known as the Grotta. The whole complex has been a listed cultural monument since 1964, and an annual wine harvest festival takes place here every autumn.
