Galerie sam83 opened in 2006 in Česká Bříza, about 5 km north of Plzeň, as part of the project Vision for a New Culture and Its Place. It occupies a rural farmstead with a ceramics workshop, a studio, and a garden - a setting quite unlike a conventional gallery. The roots go back to 1996, when summer open-air exhibitions began on the same site. Alongside contemporary art shows, it organises lectures, screenings, concerts, and artist residencies, and publishes the cultural quarterly PIŽMO.
