Galerie Benedikta Rejta was founded in 1966 and occupies a former city brewery building reconstructed between 1995 and 1998 by architects Emil Přikryl, Tomáš Bezpalec and Tomáš Novotný - the project was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award EU in 2004. The gallery focuses on Czech and international art from the second half of the 20th century, with a particular emphasis on geometric abstraction and constructivist tendencies. Its collection holds over 18,000 works, including a distinctive body of concrete and constructive art from the 1960s to 1980s.
