About the venue

This visitor centre in the hamlet of Krátká near Sněžné occupies a farmstead from the second half of the 19th century - the oldest building in the village, which is itself a protected folk-architecture reserve. The house opened in June 2020 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Its permanent exhibition, Landscape Transformations, takes visitors from prehistoric wilderness through medieval settlement to the present day, with hands-on exhibits and a 3D film. The operator, Chaloupky o.p.s., also runs school programmes, craft workshops and nature walks.
